Dear Bull Run Families,

Welcome back to a new school year! As you may be aware, we are a new PTA Board with a vision to advance Bull Run in the areas of technology and literature. When we looked at the schools surrounding Bull Run last spring, we were surprised to find that we were the only school without Smart Boards, interactive whiteboards that connect to computers. In fact, some schools had as many as 33. Teachers have found that since Smart Boards physically engage students they benefit more from the lessons taught, and since the notes can be printed, emailed, or saved, a child who is absent or unable to take notes can access them.

So, we set a goal to purchase ten Smart Boards and ten non-fiction book sets for our school. Because of these goals, we added new fundraising events to our other successful fundraisers like Sally Foster, Fun Fair, Fall Ball, and Market Day. Our new events will include Family BINGO nights, restaurant nights throughout Centreville, a Read-a-thon, a Global Goods internet fundraiser, an End-of-Year Dance, and My Teacher is a Star fundraiser. We hope that you will consider helping Bull Run teachers and students and choose a few of these events to support.

On another note, we are excited to introduce a Science Fair and an International Event to Bull Run.

Finally, we need your helping hands and minds to support each and every one of our programs in the school. A PTA is only as successful as the parents who support it. There are small jobs, large jobs and those in between, but they all add up to a better school for our children.
